I realize I haven't posted anything since November 5, 2016; I didn't intend this unplanned/unannounced hiatus to be so long.  I've been pondering whether/when to resume my uploads or post some version of this journal for a long time, but life has been very busy away from dA.

Even though I fell out of the habit of uploading to dA, I've still been making fractals when I can, and I currently have about 241 fractals saved or rendered (2.79+ GB) but not uploaded here.  (It's difficult to be exact when you're counting them manually!)  In fact, about 37% of my fractals have never been submitted to dA.

I don't anticipate becoming any less busy soon, so I'm considering simply trying harder to find the time to upload fractals here.  Mostly, I'm posting this journal to see if people are interested in seeing them, or if most of my watchers have moved on.  (It seems a bit quiet around here--the fractal galleries of dA--or perhaps it's just me... Shrug In any case, hopefully we'll see even more fractals now that we have a CV:D)

Please stop by and say hello in a comment if you have a chance! :D

I'm sorry, but as of today, I can't thank everybody individually for favorites, llamas, and watches.

There are just too many people to thank. I find myself dozens upon dozens of messages behind and most of my time on dA is spent going through them.

I will thank you directly in a comment for a watch, and I will continue responding to comments. Also, if I have not done so already, I will thank people who watch/llama/favorite with a llama.

I'm sorry I don't have the time to thank all of you more personally...I wish I could. For everything, I am truly grateful.

Gratefully,
RationalParadox

I must apologize for my rather extreme tardiness in responding to the gracious request of ThoughtWeaver.  Unfortunately, events in my life outside of dA have sidetracked me.

May the festivities belatedly begin!

YOUR MISSION PROTOCOL

Make a post to your DA journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your DA or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- do it.

You need not spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Give, and you might receive. and you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Alright then!  Here's my wishlist:

To improve my abilities in fractals;
To improve my abilities in photography, especially with my new camera (link);
To finally develop a full understanding of JWildfire;
To find advice, resources, and tutorials from the dA community to achieve all of the above;
To find collaboration partners for fractal "pongs", the more the merrier;
To engage in more commission collaborations with lN50MNlA*;
To enjoy the holiday season with my family;
To seek and find inspiration;
To find the time to participate in the Apo-Weekly-Challenge often;
To have lots of snow this year!
To fully express my gratitude for every point, every watch, every favorite, every comment, every llama, every view.

(To hopefully not bore you with this long list of vague, abstract, and intangible wishes.  :D)

I hereby tag:**

Have a great holiday season!

I decided to go for a big upgrade and bought a DSLR:  a Nikon D5300 bundle with plenty of new toys!  It's a big step up from the beginner's point-and-shoot Canon I had before, but with all the resources available on dA and plenty of time to experiment, I think I'm ready.

As a result, photographs will start to play a more equal role with fractals in my gallery in the next few months.  However, I still have a few more shots (actually, roughly a dozen) from the Canon to upload.  Those were the last shots it took before it broke back in August.  However, I can't wait to see what I'll be able to do with the new one!

Joyously,
RationalParadox

P.S.  For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, and actually care, read this:  Why I haven't posted many photographs lately

For those who are interested:

Well, you see...I broke my camera...back in August.  It still technically works, but it won't zoom at all, which is a big problem for me.

I already was pondering upgrading my camera, and though this is probably just a simple fix, I think I'll probably buy a newer, improved one.  My current camera has served me well for several years, and it's the principal reason photography became a bit of a hobby of mine--which is in turn why I joined this website--which is in turn how I discovered fractal art:  so basically everything here is thanks to this one camera.  :)

In the meanwhile, I have a little over a dozen photographs I took right before it broke, which you'll probably see uploaded throughout the next couple of months.
